Study On Turquoise Products Unearthed In The Eastern Zhou Dynasty In China

Turquoise is the traditional ancient jade.Because of its magnificent,it is regarded by the people of the world as a accessory for a long time.Chinese archaeology unearthed a large number of turquoise products during the Eastern Zhou Dynasty,which lack of deep analysis and objective assessment at the time being.Studying the use of turquoise in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty will help us understand the situation of people's productivity,class differentiation,aesthetic tendency and social conception,and know about the cultural communication and differences between different regions.The aim of this study is to discuss the turquoise products unearthed in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty in China.Referring to turquoise,not only does include the presence of turquoise products,but also it includes the utensils which contain turquoise.The scope of space about this study is based on the turquoise products of actual unearthed in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty in archaeological discoveries.Using cultural factor analysis method,the period of Eastern Zhou Dynasty of China will be divided into five areas.They are Chu culture area,the Central Plains Cultural District,Wuyue Cultural District,the northern region(It is divided into five sub-regions,they are northeast region,northern Hebei region,Gansu and Ningxia region,Inner Mongolia region,Xinjiang region),southwest region.According to the basic situation of turquoise products unearthed in the five regions.The turquoise products are divided into two major categories,that is to say,non-inlaid turquoise products and turquoise mosaic products.And then,the author discusses about typology according to the turquoise products of the shape,class,combination using.Carrying out the identity level analysis to unearthed turquoise products of tomb master by combining with the report and briefing.It was found that the turquoise products in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty had regional characteristics.The turquoise products unearthed in the above five areas had different preferences in quantity,shape,type and production process.In the Eastern Zhou Dynasty turquoiseproducts also have a hierarchical characterization characteristics.Generally speaking,the aristocracy is the primary control of turquoise resources,but civilians also have an access to getting turquoise resources.Their differences lie in distinction between the quantity and the degree of sophistication of products,Turquoise has a tendency to the development of mass consumer goods.From the unearthed turquoise use of the situation in the five areas,most of them are life of class,very rare etiquette of class.The decorative function of turquoises is the most important function in these classes.According to the different decorative objects,it can be divided into two kinds of human ornaments and objects decorations.In addition,turquoise has other functions,such as burial jade function,practical functions.Combined with the concrete situation and the unearth place of turquoise products to analyze in the five areas,the results show that the turquoise products in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty should follow the principle of "local materials".However,with the improvement of traffic capacity and the frequent occurrence of communication,the choice of mineral resources for turquoise products increases,the scope of the "local materials" is gradually expanding.People get turquoise mine no longer being limited to local or domestic.So do not rule out the possibility that turquoises of foreign Iran and Sinai Peninsula flow to China.
