The Classic of Mountains and Seas Book(Shan Hai Jing)is an important ancient book of pre-Qin period.It mainly records the distribution of mountain ranges and the geographical position of countries etc.,in which there is an abundance of existential sentence.As for the research on existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book,the existing research focus on certain part of the case in the book and there is no exclusive systematic research of existential sentence of the whole book,and the "Yue" character sentence has never be summarized as existential sentence.On this account,this paper takes existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book as study object,carries on comprehensive investigation,and with the guidance of cognitive linguistics,devotes to cognitive research on existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book.The paper consists of four chapters :The introduction part mainly reviews the research overview of Chinese existential sentence,illustrates the research value of Mountains-Seas Book,thus puts forward the significance of the topic and the aim of the research.In addition,expounds the the theoretical logic and methodology of the dissertation.The second part carries on exhaustive description of existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book,on the classification criterion of Lei Tao,separately describe different existential sentence types: “A+B+C”?“A+C”?“B+C”?“C”.And makes an explanation to "Yue" character sentence this special existential sentence type.The third part explores the whole and component cognitive characteristics of existential sentence,according to the structure features of existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book,elucidating the whole cognitive characteristics of existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book based on the figure-ground theory,the image-schema theory,the theory of iconicity and the theory of structural information;elucidating the component cognitive characteristics of existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book based on the theory of "bounded" and "unbounded".Moreover,analyzes the cognitive reference function,Importing function and space transformation function of existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book in textual structure.The conclusion part makes a summary to this paper.Through the exhaustive research and analysis of existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book,a comprehensive and systematic understanding on existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book is formed;On the basis of the classification describe,through cognitive analysis of existential sentences in Mountains-Seas Book,a understanding of new dimension on existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book is formed.The research on existential sentence in Mountains-Seas Book could rich the research on ancient Chinese existential sentence,provide the usage and use cases,which is of great importance on the research in ancient Chinese language.The application of cognitive linguistics provides a new research perspective which is of psychological reality and have a great significance for reference to the formation and development of existential sentences.
