In modern society,with the introduction of Western Tourism Concept and methods,the development of Chinese cities and transportation,the growth of the civil society,the development of the border areas and so on,travel activities are endowed with new connotation and denotation.The development of travel activities has increased the demand for travel information,giving birth to modern travel guides that guide people to travel.The author of the article collected 436 travel guides.According to this analysis,the emergence of the guide of the Republic of China is not only with the history of the compilation of the relevant,but also the stimulation of Western factors.There are several specific reasons for the generation of the guide.Such as the exposition,the convening of the scientific society or the opening of the railway and the road,they will publish the appropriate guide.The publication of the guide became a popular means of propaganda at that time.Travel guide content mainly involves the journey of food,places,travel,purchase,line,entertainment aspects.They are divided into cities,attractions,regions,lines,overseas five categories,mainly to urban class.Their writers are both personal and institutional,mostly for professional publishing house.The style and format of their drawing has new development on the basis of the traditional history geography,mainly by chapter.Its rich content reflects a lot of modern travel ideas,that is,travel in the political,economic,ethnic equality,the role of popular.The readers are diverse and have important historical value.The creation of the series of guides in the Three Gorges area of the Jialing River during the Republic of China illustrates the role of the Guide as a media.Lu Zuofu village construction experiment in Beibei as the center of the Jialing River in the Three Gorges area has made Beibei from a remote town into a modern new town,and because of the special situation of the war,Beibei become a large rear cultural city.The Government has compiled a number of tour guides.One purpose is to introduce the Beibei profile to facilitate the tour.Another purpose is to hope that the guide to readers to show the modern image of Beibei,to attract them to the gorge area tour,in order to gain social support.The Three Gorges guide uses the words of modern,advanced and so on to select the specific undertakings to write and arrange in a centralized way,so as to publicize the achievements of rural construction,and to demonstrate the modernization of the gorge.The achievements of the construction of the gorge area itself and its thoughtful reception,made the impression that people are visiting the Gap is basically the same as the modern town image that is publicized by the guide.The guides become one of the means of external publicity in the experimental area.
