The timbre of pipa is an important factor and character in the performance.In the present study,it's function of timbre was studied in traditional and modern music forms,indicating the significance of the timbre of the lute.From the development of timbres and styles of pipa music,it can be used as a accompaniment instrument as well as a solo and a duet.It's not only formed a different style and genre,but also inherited a great deal of music.Since modern times,pipa was one of the national musical instruments that entered the professional development early.Great achievements were obtained from music inheritance,new creation,and musical instruments reformation.The formation of the basic timbre and using a variety of changes in timbre of pipa music demonstrated in this study from the formation of timbre to the timbre change in various of pipa music.
