Liu Bannong is a new poet advocate and practitioner in the history of new literature,but his translations of novels and creative works before the May 4th movement are often easy to be ignored.Under the influence of a series of literary ideas such as the "Three Dynasties Revolution”,“Vernacular Movement" and "May 4th Literature Revolution",he translated and created more than 100 novels,which contained the distinctive flavor of the old and new literature,symbolizes the literary pursuit of his extensive touches and reflects of the real world.This paper tries to reveal his achievements as a representative writer in the literary transformation period of the late Qing Dynasty through the three aspects of "the view of the old and new",“the view of the elegant and vulgar”,and "the view of life" which were embodied in Liu Bannong 's novels,to explore the formation of his creative thoughts,the process of the formation and maturity of his creative ideas,and furthur explore the reasons of the formation of his creative thoughts and the new literary ideas.This paper is divided into three parts:The first part explores the elegant and vulgar views of Liu Bannong 's novels from the topic types.His works of translation show the worries and thoughts about the fate of the country and the future of the nation,criticize the social ills and reflect the reality of the survival of the people.At the same time,the introduction of the western concept of the “love and freedom of men and women” are also manifested and reflected in his works,which embodies the improvement of the political theme and romance,which shows his literary wisdom,the consciousness of the pursuit of freedom and equality of the ideological liberation,so that his works show tastes of literary value.The second chapter analyzes the new and old view of Liu Bannong 's novels from the stylistic features.The era of Liu Bannong 's creative novels is the literary period of the blending of the old and new literary ideas and styles.His novels embody the fusion and surpass of the tradition and modernity,the narrative perspective of the first person to restrict the choice of perspective,the naturalization and alienation translation techniques show his pursuit of the trend of the times,reflects the transformation from the tradition to modernity.The third chapter mainly explores the life view of Liu Bannong 's novels from the thought content of the text.Liu is a popular novelist with family feelings,He gave a strong critique of the vulgar,ugly,morbid human nature of society at that time.In the ridicule,whipping of these people,Liu Bannong lauded those who have a good,simple quality from the humanitarian point of view.In contrast,you can see Liu Ban Nong has a fighting concept of life.
