The Discrepancies And The Influence Mechanism Of Selfother On Choice Deferral In Decision Making

The main purpose of this research was to discuss and analyze the effect and influencing mechanism of makers' roles on choice deferral,In this paper,self-other difference about choice deferral are discussed From the outcome-oriented and the process-oriented perspectives.We use a preliminary experiment and two formal experiments to investigate self-other difference for choice deferral and its information processing mechanism.Preliminary experiments mainly tend to filtrate the main factors influencing college students' career decision-making through interviews and literature.Experiment 1,when the option of not choosing any of the alternatives was also provided by using the questionnaire,is used to explore self-other difference under different levels of conflict in career choice deferral,namely,by controlling the level of difficulties and attraction of options to manipulate the two conflict levels,and further explores whether there is a difference between for yourself and for others in career choice deferral.Experiment 2 studies the self-other differences in the depth of information search,speed of information search and duration of information search using information board technology.After participants using the IOS to measure the psychological distance,this paper aimed at exploring the influence of self-others on choice deferral and the influencing mechanism.The conclusions are as follows:(1)When self-others deferral difference occur,individuals are more inclined to delay for themselves than for others;(2)The conflict level moderates self-other difference of choice deferral,especially,when self-other difference is under high level of conflict there is no difference between making decisions for themselves and for strangers or close friends.However,individuals are more inclined to delay for themselves compared with making decisions for strangers or close friends when self-other difference occur under low level of conflict.(3)Depth and duration of information search are significantly higher when making decisions for close friends than for themselves and strangers.
