The present study was to design a group training program of attention, which was based on Barkley's theoretical model of behavioral inhibition. Then, apply the program to the children with attention deficit and hyperactivity.to investigate the effects on their performance of attention, behaviors in the classroom and achievements.Through filtering,20 first-grade children in a primary school in Zhejiang Province participated in the study, who were assessed with attention deficit and hyperactivity and with normal intelligence and ability of interpersonal communication. The participants were randomly assigned into experimental group and control group,10 each group, and had the same proportion of gender and the degree of attention problem.Children in experimental group received the group training of attention once a week for 9 weeks and the control group had no attention training while on the waiting list. The 3rd edition of Conners Continuous Performance Test(CPT-3),Swanson,Nolan,and Pelham,Version IV(SNAP-IV)and the degree of correction and neatness about children's Chinese tasks were used to examine participants' attention performance, behaviors in the classroom and achievements separately.Researcher collected data by asking Children and their teachers to finish the test and scales separately before and after training and analyzed the data by Mann-Whitney U Test. Results revealed that attention deficit hyperactivity children in experimental group performed much better in the post CPT-3 than children without training. Moreover, teachers discovered that children attended training showed less hyperactivity and impulsive behaviors. In addition, children also developed a good ability to finish the Chinese task much cleaner and tidier. Finally, researcher proposed how to modify the group training program and gave some suggestions to parents and teachers about reasonable approaches to treat children with attention deficit and hyperactivity.
