Early school-age of 8 or 9 is an important turning period for the psychological development of children, since after entering school, children's learning activities would gradually replace games to become their main activities, and have a significant impact on their psychology. The attention is the important foundation of their effective learning. Its development is related to two factors which are the maturity of children's psychology as well as the environment and education. Along with the development of education and the raising of public awareness of the elementary school education, parents and teachers began to train and improve consciously children's attention, so that targeted attention upgrading training came into being. In such context, this study aims to examines the feasibility and effectiveness of three kinds of attention training mode by doing children's attention training experiment, using the EEG feedback training and the cognitive-behavior group training methods. The experiment was conducted in Loudi City, Hunan Province, with 40 third graders at about 9 years old, who were randomly divided into four groups, 10 persons in each group, and whose parents, not against, signed a consent form. For the experimental group one, the EEG biofeedback training was carried out; for the experimental group two, the cognitive-behavior training; and for the experimental group three, it was a combination of the EEG biofeedback and the cognitive-behavior group training that was done. There was no training for the contrast group. The results are as follows:1. The results showed that there exist an obvious correlation between the concentration index obtained through brain electrical physiological measuring instrument and the attention scores measured by “primary and middle school students' attention test” gauge. More precisely, there was a high coincidence between the two indicators which could both effectively reflect the attention level of the experimental subjects, thus have a good reliability and validity.2. EEG biofeedback training and cognitive-behavior group training could both improve attention, but with different focus. Through the EEG biofeedback training, the brain's self regulating function of the tested children was significantly improved.Through cognitive-behavior group training, children's attention index got a significant improvement. For the children in the contrast group, non of the three indicators was improved.3. There was a considerable difference between the effect of the comprehensive training and the single training methods, with comprehensive training better than single training. The conclusion is that combining the two ways can make up for their respective shortcomings, and achieve better results.4. The results also showed that the third graders' attention can be trained. The two training methods have significantly improved the attention test scores, further demonstrating the close relationship between attention and brain control ability.
