| With the rapid development of our society and the continuous prosperity of the economy,more and more rural young adults choose to leave their rural homelands and the land they farmed and lived for big cities to look for new job opportunities and earn their livings there,but their children left behind in rural areas because of the household registration system,family financial circumstances and other reasons.In these situation the elderly at home or other relatives on behalf are asked to take care of the children,resulting in a special group-rural children left behind which is composed entirely these children appear in rural areas.For these rural children left behind who are in primary and secondary education stages,school is not only the main carrier of knowledge and education but also the crucial place where they.develop good habits,learn to build deep friendship with others,cultivate their own hob’bies,grow and become talent.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to pay attention to the adaptability of rural children left behind in the school environment.In this thesis,eleven rural children left behind who are in primary or junior high school education stages in Y school of Chongqing are evaluated using the research approach of semi-structured interviews and participation observation.Based on the observation and understanding of the eleven rural children left behind and interviewing and communicating with some teachers and the guardians of these children,the paper analyzes the problems of the rural children left behind’s school adaptability through academic achievement,behavior,emotion and interpersonal relationship.These results indicate that school adaptability of these left-behind children is not optimistic,mainly including the school maladjustment,behavior problems,emotional problems and bad interpersonal relationships.It is suggested that the emergence of these problems is closely related to the imperfect of their social support.Through the attribution analysis,it is found that the problems of school adaptability of these left-behind children have a close relation with their own situation,peer groups,families and schools.In order to help the left-behind children better adapt to school life,the author not only offers some advice to strengthen formal social support based on the social support network theory from the aspects of government,school and social work,but also puts forward some reasonable proposal to build informal social support which is mainly composed by children themselves,families and peers System.By the combination of the two strategies,a reasonable social support network will be built and provide more attention and care for the left-behind children,and further helping them adapt well to school life and have a happy learning and healthy growth. |
