In order to show the actual development situation of Huizhou merchants in Qing Dynasty,the author has attempted to analysis and study 80 Huizhou Merchants’ Documents of Dividing Family Property in Qing Dynasty in systemic.To Huizhou Merchants’ Documents of Dividing Family Property,we can see that the merchants active in the Yangtze River Delta area trade mainly in pawnshop,cloth,tea,salt and wood.In the mode of operation,most of Huizhou merchants choose to be a stationery merchant,and partnership operation was commom.But because of lack of fund and the death of relative,or due to social chaos and destroyed by evildoer,theirs business is managed face very great difficulty.From the Huizhou Merchants’ Documents of Dividing Family Property we can also see that the Huizhou merchants’ money used to buy land,stores,household division and daily consumption in Qing Dynasty,and because most of money used to buy land,so Huizhou Merchants not capitalist but still a feudal business group.It is worth noting that Huizhou merchants had their unique way of separation: separation but store not divided and separation also branch.Made a study of commercial capitalare divided by lot are important complement of the study of Huizhou Merchants.Shown in the documents of dividing family property that one of the reasons why the decline of Huizhou merchants is that the war between Qing Xianfeng and Tongzhi years.At last,this paper analyses the two generation—the distance of fifty-four years’ documents of dividing family property,we can see the change about the family’assets,the Huizhou Merchants family’s structure and the way family dividing.
