An Interpreting Report On The Project For Optimizing Jiangsu Companies' English Websites

With "Belt and Road" strategy creating a historical opportunity for the implementation of China's enterprises "going out", establishing and optimizing these companies' English websites is a promising way to promote their brands abroad. The reporter was responsible for this project which included one conference interpretation(business presentation) and one business negotiation interpretation. The two interpreting tasks are both for establishing and optimizing companies' English website. The reporter was confronted with a few difficulties both before interpreting and during interpreting.These difficulties would be assessed to be lacking in-depth understanding of the whole industry background, technical translation, relying too much on the script and lacking sight interpreting skills in the conference interpretation, cognitive overload, too many colloquial words in the negotiation interpretation, the positioning of the reporter's role and cross-cultural issues. Consequently, the reporter also provided following solutions to the above difficulties: getting comprehensive understanding of the industry background,establishing glossary table for the technical translation, understanding before interpreting,applying some sight interpreting skills, reasonably allocating energy and efforts, avoiding too much colloquialism, dealing with the role of interpreters and intercultural things. The findings of this report may provide reference for relevant interpreters.
