A Research On Characteristics Of Compositional Techniaues In E·Salonen’s Vionlin Concerto

In this thesis,Violin Concerto by contemporary Finnish composer Esa-Pekka Salonen is studied from the perspective of pitch,structure,texture and instrumentation;later characteristics of composition techniques and thoughts of Salone in this work are analyzed.The thesis includes 4 chapters:The first chapter introduced the Salon and his violin concerto.The second chapter analyzes the organization of the pitch,which is described in detail from four aspects:melody,the use of pivot note,analysis harmonic structure and development of pitch materials.The third chapter analyzes the characteristics of the music structure and the layout of the multi-movement.The fourth chapter analyzes the orchestration and texture,focuses on the instrument selection and instrument layout,texture and type of orchestration techniques.Finally,In the conclusion part,compositon techniques and thoughts characteristics of Salon’s Violin Concerto are summarized:Compositon Techniques:(1)core pitch material throughout this composition,(2)classical music form for the principle and the internal structure with multiplicity,(3)The orchestration inherits the traditional orchestra method,(4)focus on texture of homophony and combination of dynamic and static.Thoughts Characteristics:(1)try to find a reasonable balance between freedom and order,(2)experience and emotional factors greater than the logic and rational factors,(3)contact predecessors and integration of contemporary.
