Middle school stage is a period in which teenagers grow fast,e.g.,weight and height,and a series of other changes happen unconsciously,for example,secondary sexual characteristic.More importantly,the development of self-concept is still in an unstable and unbalanced state.Due to physical development gradually stopped but not well adapted,high school first grade girls' physical self is also in a state of instability,and affects their interpersonal relationships,personality development.The first study collected the data for 285(130 girls and 155 boys)high school first grade students by using ? Negative Physical Self Seals ?,? The neuroticism scale ?,? social maladjustment scale?,for the purpose of studying the relationship of the characteristics of the physical self,emotional stability and social adaptability.The results showed that:(1)Compared with boys,high school first grade girls' physical self was more negative cognition.For example,high school first grade girls in the fat and overall dissatisfied latitudes scores were significantly higher than boys.(2)High school first grade girls' social adaptability and emotional stability were significantly worse than boys.(3)Physical self was positively related to emotional stability and social adaptability,more importantly,emotional stability was the mediator variable for physical self and social adaptability.The second study probed the focus point and classification method of physical self by collecting the sensitivity data of female characteristic words for 655 high school first grade girls and adopting multidimensional scale analysis.Results were as followings:(1)We could describe physical self for high school first grade girls from both physical description and detail attention two aspects.(2)Physical description included line sense,proportion sense and power sense;detail attention included facial detail attention and body detail attention.The third study conducted a Sandplay therapy for a high school first grade girl,who has higher negative physical self score,to probe the effect of Sandplay therapy for improving physical self.Results showed that the girl significantly improved physical self and developed social resilience after intervention of 18 times of Sandplay therapies.The changes from thetheme and self-like from Sandplay works reflected her changes of physical self.From talked above,we can safely conclude that the physical self for high school first grade girls mainly come from both physical description and detail attention two aspects.And compared with boys,high school first grade girls' physical self was more negative cognition,and then affected social adaptability through emotional stability.More importantly,Sandplay therapy is a good manner to effectively improved physical self for high school first grade girls.
