The Study Of The Poetics And Poetic Creation Of Hao Jing And Wang Yun

Both Hao Jing and Wang Yun who lived in the early Yuan Dynasty are the representatives of the Northern scholars.On the whole,Hao Jing and Wang Yun have higher achievements than other scholars of the early Yuan Dynasty in both academic thoughts and poetry creation.The two scholars are famous for their study of Confucian classics and historiography,and they have made significant contributions to the advancement and establishment of Yuan’s politics,culture and literary styles.Therefore,it is reasonable and practical to discuss them in the same breath.Under this premise,when Hao Jing and Wang Yun’s poetry achievements are taken as a pointcut to study the positions of their creation and their construction of poetic theory in the history of the Yuan Dynasty poetics and to clarify the link between their creation and the North academics,it is most likely to interpret the origin of the poetic fashion of Yuan Dynasty.For the above reasons,the structure and contents of the dissertation are as follows:The first chapter starts from the academic interest of Hao Jing and Wang Yun,and explores the origin of their academic thoughts and their academic exchanges,and then examines the concrete representation of their practical thoughts.Between Jin and Yuan Dynasties,the scholars of the north experienced the dynastic change,and the change led the scholars to start to rethink the demise of Jin Dynasty.In this process,they abandoned the superficial form and pursued the practical study,so the trend of practical study became a fashion.Hao Jing and Wang Yun had a close relationship with the important scholars of the north such as Yuan Haowen,Liu Qi,Wang Pan,Yang Huan and others.In the process of contacting with them,Hao Jing and Wang Yun established an ideological system of practical thoughts based on Confucian classics and aiming at practical use.At the same time,they put forward a slogan called “Useful Academic”,which became the core concept of their academic system and literary ideology.The formation and evolution of Hao Jing and Wang Yun ’s creative styles and their poetic ideas were all rooted in their practical thoughts.The second chapter focuses on the interpretation of the connotation of Hao Jing and Wang Yun’s poetic ideals,poetic ethics and aesthetic paradigm.Emphasizing the usefulness of literature was Hao Jing and Wang Yun’s consensus.They thought that only paying attention to the beauty of the writing could not save the malady of the age,and it must lead to empty talk.Combining with the historical contexts of the Yuan Dynasty,Hao Jing and Wang Yun advocated an orthodox Confucian poetic view which used poems to reset morals and ethics,and to restore the elegance of the poetic tradition.At the same time,Hao Jing and Wang Yun mainly discussed "temperament" and on the basis of inheriting the achievements of predecessors,they interpreted and reconstructed this poetic concept.But they did not thoroughly deny the rhetoric of writing,but instead,they built a set of poetic aesthetic system with the book Songs as the center and with the poetry of the Han,Wei and Tang Dynasties as models in order to establish a vigorous and elegant aesthetic style.The third chapter focuses on the creative styles of Hao Jing and Wang Yun and examines the interactive relationship between their creative practice and their thoughts of history and Neo-Confucianism.Both Hao Jing and Wang Yun had a close relationship with Yuan Haowen who advocated “sincerity” of poetry.On the basis of Yuan’s poetic concept,Hao Jing and Wang Yun emphasized that poetic creation should have sincere feelings and achieve the effect of beautifying ethics and changing the customs.In fact,this poetic concept was the inheritance and progress of the poetics of Jin Dynasty.In terms of creation reality,Hao Jing and Wang Yun’s profound historical knowledge made their poems link the ancient and their time.They wrote historical events into their poems and their pride strengthened the momentum of their poetry,so their poems showed a magnificent and profound style.At the same time,Hao Jing and Wang Yun were also affected by Neo-Confucianism.They used their Neo-Confucianism knowledge to nourish their ethical philosophy,so their internal refined manners could be transformed into the elegant and peaceful expression of their emotions,which enhanced the internal infection of their poems.On the basis of this,the two kinds of the plain and the magnificent poetic styles intensively appeared and integrated in Hao Jing and Wang Yun’s poetic creation.And they became the chief poetic styles in the poetic circles of the north Yuan Dynasty.
