Analysis On Absurd Narration Of Wang Xiaobo's Novels

There are many absurd people and events in Wang Xiaobo's novels.In this thesis,absurd narration of Wang Xiaobo's novels is analyzed to excavate his absurd world and the spiritual connotation behind.Meanwhile,his unique narrative technique is analyzed to make absurd narration prominent.This thesis firstly defines the concept of the absurd,analyzes Wang Xiaobo's novels in the defining scope,and summarizes value from three aspects:the dilemma of subsistence,the dissimilation phenomenon of life and the pursuit of existence.In Chapter One,the author mainly reviews the connotation and denotation of absurd,which means making the concept of the absurd and the applicable scope of theory clear.This chapter lays theoretical foundation for the further excavation.In Chapter Two,the author organizes the value of Wang Xiaobo's novels,finds out oversights from the former researches and clarifies the understanding of Wang's novels.This thesis is mainly composited under this understanding and interpretation.In Chapter Three,the author summarizes the absurd world through close reading of Wang's Eera Trilogy.From three dimensions like reality,future and history,it is obvious that Wang Xiaobo created his absurd world using logic,time-travel and imagination.In Chapter Four,the narrative strategies against the absurd are summarized.From the structure aspect,Wang uses the discontinuity narrative,multiple points of view which could be a great challenge against traditional narrative mode.It makes readers suspicious of text's authenticity,and therefore,readers can form their own consciousness of doubt thinking,so that the readers can resonate with the author's intention to reveal the nature of the absurd.From the content aspect,Wang uses logic to create an absurd world.People would feel unreasonable from the ridiculous logic and generate aversion;in addition,readers would also feel the horrific absurd from the absurd invention and deformation.Therefore,the vigilance against the absurd will be increased unconsciously;the self consciousness is also awakened.From the language aspect,Wang challenges readers' aesthetic expectations with unacquainted ways which make readers need more imagination and wisdom to find the hidden connotation behind words.Simple text and irony description make reading more interesting and manage to satirize ridiculous people and events,so that the revolutionary effect is reached.The fifth chapter mainly focuses on the reasons why Wang Xiao adopts absurd narrative strategy from inner and outer two aspects,summarizes Wang's personality cultivated by his family which is full of suspicion spirit and unwilling to be common.Also,Wang Xiaobo's reading and abroad-study experience gave him a systematic thinking and theory training which made him never blindly follow the authority and have a strong sense of doubt.The solid foundation of Wang's self consciousness is made up of these spirits and personalities.The last chapter mainly explores the value of Wang's absurd narrative from the display of the dilemma of subsistence,the dissimilation phenomenon of life and the pursuit of existence and summarizes Wang Xiaobo's novels' value.
