A Study On The Image Of Wang Er In Wang Xiaobo’s Novels

Wang Er is an important figure that appears repeatedly in Wang Xiaobo’s works.Although previous studies attach great importance to the artistic appreciation and ideological interpretation of this image,on the one hand,due to the lack of dynamic observation of the development of Wang Xiaobo’s creation,they neglect the functional transformation of Wang Er’s image.On the other hand,the overemphasis on the isomorphism between Wang Er and Wang Xiaobo also affects the research depth of Wang Er’s poetics from Wang Er’s image.Therefore,this paper attempts to start with Wang Xiaobo’s construction process of Wang Er’s series of novels,and to gather the Wang Er in Wang Xiaobo’s works to conduct a comprehensive study,which not only analyzes their image characteristics and ideological implications,but also attempts to summarize the various narrative functions undertaken by Wang Er,and through a more detailed analysis of the isomorphism relationship between Wang Er and Wang Xiaobo,reflects on the interpretation and criticism in the process of Wang Xiaobo’s canonization.The main body of this paper is divided into four chapters:The first chapter discusses how Wang Xiaobo consciously constructs the image of Wang Er in his novel map.The first section looks at the appearance of Wang Er’s image from the layout of Wang Xiaobo’s series of novels:From the publication of the first novel Forever is not deliberately shaped the prototype of Wang Er,to the market factors for the consideration of the romantic history of Wang Er assembled name,and then to The Golden Age,Thirty Years of Standing,Days of Departing writing plan,Wang Xiaobo purposely shaped Wang Er as a core character with a complete life experience,and built the character structure relationship around him in the series of novels.The second section of this chapter focuses on the analysis of the establishment of Wang Er’s image in the relationship betwleen the sexes and the collective relationship.The second chapter makes an analysis of the image characteristics and ideological implications of Wang Er.Wang Er is a hero image with the same character in Wang Xiaobo’s works.To understand and study the image of Wang Er in the novel,we first need to summarize the characteristics of the image of Wang Er.By gathering all the images of Wang Ers in Wang Xiaobo’s novels,the first section points out that the images of Wang Ers have the common characteristics of beauty and ugliness,elegance and vulgar.The second section explores the spiritual world of Wang Ers,focusing on analyzing their unremitting pursuit of freedom and independence spirit and their unique thinking logic.The third chapter analyzes Wang Er as a narrative element and discusses his function as a narrative carrier in the novel.The first section points out from the perspective of narrative that Wang Xiaobo either narrates with Wang Er as the first person,or uses Wang Er to complete the transformation of the first person and the third person.The second section,from the perspective of Wang Er’s multiple narrative identities,analyzes the phenomenon of narrative communication and narrative intervention in the novel.When Wang Er appears as the narrator,the repetitive narrative language and narrative methods used in the novel make Wang Er become the narrator of these repeated words,which will be discussed in the third section.The fourth chapter tries to discuss the relationship between Wang Er and Wang Xiaobo from the perspective of reception.The first section analyzes the similarities between Wang’s chronology and Wang Xiaobo’s chronology in terms of life experience.Because of the high similarity between Wang Er and Wang Xiaobo,readers and researchers tend to equate the image of Wang Er with that of Wang Xiaobo from the perspective of autobiographical writing in the process of Wang Xiaobo’s canonization.The third section of this chapter reflects on this critical inertia and points out that the isomorphic interpretation focusing on image analysis is easy to cover the transformation of the meaning and function of Wang Er’s image in the construction process of Wang Xiaobo’s novels.We should grasp the tension relationship between Wang Er and Wang Xiaobo in their dialogue analysis.
