Translation Report Of Bill Of Quantities

With the deepening of the reform and opening up,China has developed a more closely relationship and deeper cooperation with other countries.Affected by “Go Out” policy,a large number of construction enterprises participated in international competitions,in hope of sharing a piece of cake in globalization.As far as the author is concerned,the number of enterprises from China could reach thousand only in one country in Africa.Considering the need for foreign exchange,it is really necessary to translate bills of quantities.The report is based on South Africa Bureau of Standards(SABS).As a matter of experience,the author chooses and analyzes one bill of quantities.By discussing the problems encountered in the process of translation,t he author puts forward corresponding solutions.This not only deepens the understanding of professional construction knowledge and skills for translating bill of quantities,but also provides some references for translators to solve the same kind of proble ms.The translation report consists of five parts.C hapter one introduces the background and structure of the paper.Chapter two is translation description which introduces target language translation and previous studies of architectural engineering translation.C hapter three discusses the three part of translation process: preparation,text translation and guiding theory.C hapter four is a case study which presents the analysis of four problems during translation: long and difficult sentences,model verbs and conditional adverbial clauses,and proposes corresponding solutions.The last chapter summarizes the experience of bill of quantities translation and provides some references for future translation.
