In recent years the learning Chinese fever has being increasing,while the relationship between China and South Korea has become more and more close.Many Chinese learners only focus on learning the grammar structures of modern Chinese,along with vocabulary,communication skills and other superficial aspects of the language,but in order to master a foreign language it is necessary to understand its cultural background.In the same way as a language belongs to its culture,Chinese classical poetry(being an important part of the Chinese language)also belongs to the Chinese culture.Chinese classical poetry is the basis of literature,ancient Chinese people’s thought,and Chinese culture.The elegance,and essence of Chinese language is solidified in the Chinese classical poetry.In Korea,many universities offering the Chinese Language major,have courses of classical Chinese poetry,these are not compulsory courses,the students are free to choose them as elective courses.The students have a variety of reasons to choose Chinese classical poetry courses,for example,learning Chinese characters,Chinese history,Chinese culture,increasing their Chinese level and so on.In addition,by interpreting the Classical Chinese poems,the students not only obtain knowledge from their own thoughts,but also obtain the spiritual richness of ancient poets thoughts,and so,can appreciate the gems of Chinese Literature;at the same time,the students can increase their Chinese language skills by surmounting the barriers of the written language,and grasping the correct pronunciation of the words,and the voice tones.Also,through the learning of Chinese classical poetry,the students acquire the habit of self learning Chinese,and develop their imaginative and mental association skills.However,the actual situation of these courses is far from being ideal,the students complain that poetry is difficult to understand,boring and that the courses are “teacher centered”.Therefore,in this thesis,I elaborate on the situation of teaching Chinese classical poetry in the Chinese Department of Korea Woosuk University,I point out the teaching problems of this course,and propose methods to improve it.This thesis has five sections.In the first section,I explain the research background,the meaning of my research and goals,the methodology,and literature reviewed,which consists of research papers about teaching Chinese classical poetry,its importance,elements,methods of teaching,the situation of the courses offered at Korean universities,and the Chinese classical poetry inside Korean high schools’ teaching materials.In the second section I focus on the courses offered at Korea Woosuk University.In the third section,according to the courses at Korea Woosuk University I did a survey,spot the troubles and propose a new teaching plan,this is the core part of this thesis,I after researching and surveying,and for the sake of a better course of Chinese Classical Poetry I am suggesting a teaching plan.In the fourth section,on the basis of my proposal I designed the “Drinking Wine” teaching method.In the last section,I hope that the teaching materials of Chinese Classical Poetry,and the related research help in the better understanding of Chinese Classical Poetry courses,and also hope for the students to grab inspiration and surmount the cross-cultural barriers of learning Chinese language,and for them to achieve their goals smoothly.
