The Lexicalization Of Metonymy Words

Rhetoric lexicalization is a kind of special language phenomenon.Metonymy words produced by the phenomenon of rhetoric is the objects what this paper to research.Predecessors have had some exploration of the metonymy words,and also made some achievements.However,we find that the research on the metonymy words is not enough and comprehensive.In this paper,on the basis of previous studies,taking metonymy words as the research object,making the modern Chinese Dictionary(Sixth Edition)as a closed corpus,combining the theory of rhetoric,lexicology,grammar,semantics,cognitive linguistics,statistics and analysis of the metonymy words.The full paper is divided into six parts:The first chapter is the introduction,this chapter summarizes the related research on metonymy studies is mainly about the definition of metonymy,the arguement between metaphor words and metonymy words,paraphrasing of metonymy in the dictionary.And then puting forward some views on the previous research,doing the qualitative research for metonymy words.Finally,the paper introduces the source and research methods.In the second chapter,the author collects and analyzes all metonymy words in the modern Chinese Dictionary(the Sixth Edition).First of all,the analysis and statistics of the form of the metonymy words is used to sum up the eight main forms of the ways of Metonymy words.And then to analyse and census on the structure types of metonymy words.The partial positive type metonymy words is the highest proportion,followed by the joint type metonymy words.Verb-object type metonymy words at least less,subject predicate type metonymy words is the least.The third chapter investigates metonymy words from synchronic and diachronic perspectives.It will divided them into vocabulary and meaning of vocabulary of metonymy.Vocabulary of metonymy is mainly through metonymy create words,including creative allusions,the extraordinary collocation and use of metonymy morpheme word.The lexicalization of the meaning of a word is mainly composed of three aspects:the expansion of the meaning of a word,the narrowing of the meaning of a word and the transfer of the meaning of a word.This chapter discusses them in detail.The fourth chapter mainly use lexical theory,using Packard on the vocabulary classification point of view,the metonymy is divided into four grades:metaphorical lexicalization,asemantic lexicalization,agrammatical lexicalization and complete lexicalization,.In this way,the metonymy words has been changed,but the level of lexicalization is also different.In the fifth chapter,through the analysis of the phenomenon of the lexicalization of the metonymy words,the author describes and summarizes the lexicalization process of the metonymy words.By the word "live metonymy " to "the dead metonymy" mainly through three stages.The first is the metonymy out of context and human thinking to words;then when beginning to mark metonymy leave incidental context,mainly is the external and internal markers pressing;finally outward sign off,internal repression is weakened and recognized,metonymy words do not need to understand the thinking of metonymy as an intermediary in the hearts of the people,metonymy words is forming.Finally,from the perspective of the dynamic change of the metonymy words,the generation,change and development of the metonymy are explained.The sixth chapter summarizes the full points of this paper,and briefly explains the problems to be solved in the future.
