A Research On Modern Chinese Euphemistic Word

The euphemistic word is a universal language phenomenon in the human language,and there are euphemistic words in almost any country's language.The euphemistic word is like the lubricant in the language,and it is an important language means used in the communication process to coordinate the interpersonal relationship and ensure the smooth progress of the communication.In this paper,the modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition)is used as a corpus,and the words in the dictionary are analyzed one by one,and the euphemisms are enumerated as the object of the study.The paper whose body consists of four parts gives the elaboration of euphemistic words from four aspects.Chapter one is about a general statement on euphemistic words,through the analysis of euphemism,euphemism rhetoric,euphemism polish and euphemistic words,define what is the euphemistic word.We have also put forward three principles of judging the euphemistic word,which contains purpose,mode and result.In addition,the main reason for judging the euphemism is that there is a corresponding straightforward language in semantics,and the "multiple interpretation" is used as the reference for judging the euphemistic word.The second chapter is "the type of modern chinese euphemistic words",the statistics of the euphemistic words according to the meaning is divided into "death and disease","sex and physiology","society and life" three categories.This paper analyzes the main causes of these three kinds of euphemistic words from the perspective of pragmatics.The euphemistic words of "death and disease" are mainly caused by taboo,the euphemistic words of "sex and physiology" are mainly caused by elegance,the euphemistic words of "society and life" are mainly caused by beauty.The third chapter introduces the lexicalization of euphemistic rhetoric phenomenon.This chapter makes a new definition of the lexicalization theory and analyzes the process and mechanism of lexicalization.And the process of lexicalization of euphemistic rhetoric phenomenon is analyzed concretely,and the four stages can be developed into vocabulary:occasional use,more use,regular use and wording.Chapter four is about the discussion of euphemism in the Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition).This chapter mainly interprets the 52 words labeled with the term of "euphemism" in the Modern Chinese Dictionary,and points out that"euphemism" and "euphemistic word" are different in meaning,but Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition)does not make distinction.Otherwise,four suggestions on improvements are recommended in the end.The last chapter of the paper is the conclusion part,summarizes the main content of the full text,and pointed out that this study also need further in-depth discussion of the problem.The research will be beneficial to modern chinese vocabulary development and improvement of the Modern Chinese Dictionary.
