| Words that are formed by a "one-syllable time word +v" are a special kind in Chinese vocabulary. They are "adverbial modifier-centre word" structure before lexicalization. It is a common phenomenon the time words modify verbs as adverbial modifiers, especially to one-syllable time word. The meaning, nature, and function of "one-syllable time word +v" shall change after it becomes a word rather than a structure. This paper shall mainly discuss the process how the gradually becomes a word and try giving an explanation to this developing process with the theory of Phonetics, Pragmatics and cognitive linguistics.The whole paper consists of five parts. The Preface part shall introduce research findings that has already achieved about time word and lexicalization and clarify the definition and range of time word. Chapter one describes the Grammar, semantic, and pragmatic changes of one-syllable time word and adverbial modifier-centre word structure before and after lexicalization From the diachronic perspective. The second chapter observes the lexicalization process of specific "one-syllable time word +v" structure from diachronic perspective, describe and analyze it meticulously so as to reveal its overall change track. The third chapter try giving explanation to the change mechanism of the "one-syllable time word +v" structure with the theory of linguistics, psychology, and Cognitive Sciences. The Conclusion part shall summarize the research results of this paper and discuss things to be improved. |
