On the basis of reading the previous research results, this paper is based on the literature of national and local newspapers, educational news, local chronicles, historical and historical materials, compilation of modern educational materials, etc.,using empirical research, quantitative analysis, comparative study and other methods,to restore the implementation of using the temple property to set up educational undertakings of Hubei in the late Qing Dynasty,to show the interacting and gaming between official, gentry, monks and the people. The first chapter discusses the background of using the temple property to set up educational undertakings of Hubei in the late Qing Dynasty.Mainly from the decline of Buddhism and Taoism, the historical tradition of the destruction of Buddhism, the rise of the popularization of education and the difficulties of the central and local schools to outline the background of the temple in the late Qing Dynasty. The second chapter introduces the religious profile of the three towns of Wuhan and the operation of using the temple property to set up educational undertakings.Through the quantitative analysis we can see that the address of the new schools at that time showed a clear diversity of characteristics. In terms of funding, the three towns have been able to support the establishment of the perennial funding system, especially the donation and other taxes and wealthy business support, does not seem to mention the temple property. The third chapter mainly discusses the situation of using the temple property to set up educational undertakings in the local counties of Hubei Province.Relying on Zhang Zhidong changing the compensation as the school funding, coupled with the initial stage of the promotion of universal education in counties, the official funding is relatively abundant, lack the impulse of using the temple property to set up educational undertakings. After 1908,all localities need to be sent to the provincial capital half of the indemnity, local schools into a dilemma,Hubei has been around the emergence of some cases of using the temple property to set up educational undertakings. At the same time, the improvement of ethnology and private school in the late Qing Dynasty in Hubei play a important role of local education. The fourth chapter discusses the role and interaction of officials, gentry, monks and people in the movement. The author finds that the negative effect of the evil gentry in the movement in the late Qing dynasty of Hubei is obvious. Most of the efforts of the gentry to raise money are often offset by their bad behavior. It is called "in every crisis is an opportunity",the movement became a chance for Buddhist self-innovation against the upper edge. The movement has an impact on the people's beliefs life and entertainment life, some people complained and go elsewhere to worship, there is no fierce conflict between official and people. At the same time,we have noticed that the motives of the government in the late Qing dynasties are multiple, that is,the economic motives of fund-raising and the political considerations of maintaining the order of order and boosting national self-confidence.In general,we found that the movement of using so-called temple property to set up educational undertakings of Hubei in the late Qing Dynasty is relatively moderate and has its own characteristics, which reminds us of the complex and diverse of the movement. This study may increase the academic understanding of using the temple property to set up educational undertakings in the late Qing Dynasty, help us correctly understanding and evaluating the movement, and dealing with the relationship between government, education, religion and society.
