Study On The Historical Geography Of Yanling City

Yanling county in the South-Eastern border of Hunan province,located in the middle section of luoxiao mountain.The total area is 2030.24 square kilometers,covers an area of the province about 0.96%.Yanling county,since the day of setting county on the Southern Song Dynasty,has more than 800 years of history.The territory of Yanling county,possess excellent ecological environment,profound cultural background,substantial tourism and hydropower resources.After < Luoxiao mountain area planning of regional development and poverty alleviation >obtaining the approval of the State Council,Yanling,this remote county has received wide attention.For this reason,this paper combing yanling town changes course from the angle of historical geography,and summing up experience,with a view to provide a reference for the development of yanling.The Southern Song Dynasty jiading four years(1211),after the Hunan comfotor Cao Yanyue put down a rebellion in Black Wind Caves(now the territory of guidong County),he dismantled three towns of the Chaling Army,set up Ling county.It is a beginning of Yanling county.Then Yanling city has been established.Better conditions for physical geography and human geography,laid the groundwork for development of yanling city.Now most of residents are descendants of immigrants from neighboring provinces,the proportion of indigenous people is very small.Exchanges and integration for migrants and local populations,and gradually formed the yanling local customs.Yanling city has been more than 800 years of history and vicissitudes.The second year of JiaDing(1523),the city wall construction has been completed,it marks the ancient Yanling city's infrastructure construction initially completed.The social upheavals of the Ming and Qing dynasties,caused yanling city's population plummeted,infrastructure has been seriously damaged.After emperor shunzhi,society gradually settled,Yanling city walls and other public buildings has been repaired,and created new cultural and educational facilities,the city remain original pattern.During Xianfeng period in Qing Dynasty,Taiping Army scored this city,Yanling suffered severe damage again.In the republic of China,Yanling city is an important part of Jinggangshan revolutionary base,the nationalist party siege on several occasions,the city battered.It is worth mentioning that,the city built a lot of College during the Qing dynasty,it greatly promoting the cultural development of yanling city.Yanling city's population,economic development and culture,although greatly influenced by the political situation,but still showed a trend of progress overall.After the founding of new China,the walls and most of the old buildings have been demolished,the urban area have been expanded.However,with the social and economic development,people's concept of urban construction has changed,they emphasize both "quantity" of expansion and "quality" of the promotion.In this case,we must tackle issues arising in the development process,coordinate new construction and protection of the old town,protective development of tourism resources in the County,and promote sustainable development of yanling city.
