The Research About General Factor Of Personality's Existence And It's Correlation With Social Effectiveness

The general factor of personality(GFP)is a single factor in the top of hierarchy structure of personality and the most common personality trait human had.Its occurrence marks the new advance of personality research.The concept of general factor of personality originated from the thinking of evolutionism,which made it involved the issue of inner evolution of all human beings.Grand theoretical hypothesis made GFP had the unique scientific glamour that attracts countless personality psychologists to throw themselves into the study of GFP.In order to confirm its existence,many confirmative researches were conducted in the most countries and places in the world and most results supported the universal existence of GFP.In recent years there appeared a hot stream about the correlation between GFP and social effectiveness in this field.Many researchers tested it using questionnaire analysis and the results showed that GFP really reflected the social effectiveness.Basing these achievements,two works were conducted in present research.In the first study,for finding the proof of GFP existing in Chinese subjects and accor ding with the routine of international peers,NEO-FFI,a very popular personality inventory was used to survey the subjects who came from the disparate region of China(N=683).A principal common component/ GPF was extracted by exploratory factor analysis(EFA),which explained 38.462% variance of data(eigenvalue 1.923).Then confirmatory factor analysis(CFA)was also used to establish the structural equation model to enhance the persuasion of result.After comparing the different personality structure,t he result clearly demonstrated the superiority of the fitness of GFP to data(p = 0.049,GFI = 0.956,CFI = 970,RMSEA = 0.069).Generally speaking,the results of EFA and CFA verified each other and supported the existence of GFP in Chinese population.In the second study,an experiment of simulative campaign was used to collect the index of social effectiveness of 136 college students and the grades were given by experimenters assisted the former.After analyzing we found that the GFP's scores relate significantly with social effectiveness positively.Contrastive analysis clearly revealed that GFP is the key factor which determines whether subjects won in campaign.Through discriminatory analysis and regressive analysis,the predictive effect of GFP to soci al effectiveness was clarified and the value of determination coefficient was from 0.273 to 0.292.To conclude,firstly,GFP truly exists in Chinese population.Combining with many relevant researches in the world,this conclusion supports the universal e xistence of GFP.Secondly,GFP has positive valence and relates negatively with neuroticism and positively with the other big five factors.Thirdly,the correlation is positively significant between GFP and social effectiveness.Fourthly,GFP has the signi ficant predictive effect to social effectiveness.
