The flower-and-bird painting of yuan dynasty plays a unique and important position in Chinese painting history,which has a profound effect on later generations.Although many modern scholars study this kind of paintings,but there are still many problems need to be discussed.This article states to elaborate the artistic concept of yuan dynasty flower-and-bird paintings in the following five parts.The first part introduces the characteristics of yuan dynasty flower-and-bird paintings.The second part classifies the expression way and essence of the artistic conception of poetry and the yuan dynasty flower-and-bird paintings clearly and studies further.First of all,studying its expression from two aspects,(a)conveying the artistic conception from composition of flower-and-bird painting which introduces the panoramic composition and folding branches composition;(b)the expression way of poetry painting is illustrated from the angle of poetic important position in the composition and the classification of poetry.Secondly,studying the essential characteristics of the flower-and-bird paintings' artistic conception and focusing on the illustration of artistic conception of painting and poem.Artistic conception of painting could be described from two aspects.One is its definition;the other is the summary and analysis from shape and color based on the ink and wash painting and meticulous flower-and-bird painting.Artistic conception of poem also could be described from two aspects.One is the definition of poetic conception;the other is the descriptive function of poem.The third part introduces the relationship between poetic context and painting context.The first is the poetic expression of painting,which mainly analyzes the sequence of painting and poem;gives the priority to the painting,while the poetry as the auxiliary.The second is the poetic externalization to the painting,focusing on the living examples of using poetry as theme to create painting works.The third is the integration of poetry and painting.This point could be demonstrated through three aspects,including the Chinese traditional culture and philosophic thinking,yuan dynastypainters' idea of focusing on the expression of inner feelings and the complementation between poetry and painting.The fourth part emphasis on instances to demonstrate the above points of argument through parsing works of Qian Xuan,Wang Mian,Wu Zhen,Wang Yuan,KeJiuSi of Yuan dynasty.The fifth part is some inspirations of the flower-and-bird painters,who pay attention to the tradition,but also pursue the innovation.This article is beginning with the development of flower-and-bird paintings of yuan dynasty,putting the emphasis on the means of expression and the essential characteristics of its artistic conception;the relationship between poetry and painting.By parsing poetry and painting works of the famous flower-and-bird painters of yuan dynasty,the writer hopes this paper has great influence on the theoretical research and artistic creation of modern flower-and-bird painters.
