The Research On The Bandit In Western Hunan In The Period Of The Republic Of China

The bandit trouble is one of the social problems prevailing in the period of the Republic of China.It is the product of the specific historical and cultural background,and is the manifestation of the "anomie" behavior in the social transition period.As a remote minority area,the western Hunan was seriously affected by bandits in the period of the Republic of China due to this area's special natural geographical conditions,cultural traditions,strategic status and other factors,in addition to the social environment at that time.There are seven parts in this paper.The introduction is mainly about the analysis of the bandits in the western Hunan,so as to grasp the whole research status of the subject.The first chapter mainly summarizes and analyzes the politics,economy and culture of the western Hunan in the period of the Republic of China,and lays a background basis for the following studies on bandit trouble in western Hunan.The second chapter is based on the information obtained to sum up and summarize the distribution,composition,characteristics and harmfulness of the bandits at different stages of the Republic of China.In the period of the Republic of China,there were a large number of bandits who were widely distributed.Although the bandits were different in the size,composition and nature at different stages,the harmfulness and destructiveness produced by the bandits were the same.The third chapter analyzes the causes of banditry in western Hunan.The formation of the bandits in western Hunan is caused by the natural climate,geography,economic and cultural backwardness,etc.,which are similar with those contributors for formation of the bandits in the rest of the country.However,because the western Hunan is a settlement for the ethnic minority,its unique historical problems and social and political conditions are also contributors for the formation of the bandits in this area.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the ways and the effectiveness of the Kuomintang in suppressing bandits.On the whole,the Kuomintang authority was "painstakingly" to deploy suppression of bandits.However,because of its own political corruption,suppression of the bandits did not achieve the desired results,but the bandits survived from those suppressions time and again.The fifth chapter mainly talks about the success and its contributors of the Communist Party in suppressing bandits.The Communist Party achieved success in suppressing bandits,mostly because the party got the support of the masses,and formulated steps and plans to crush the bandits one by one when fighting the tricky bandits.Thus,the party achieved success in suppressing the bandits.Finally,the conclusion gives an overview to the whole situation,definitions and practical significance,etc.,of the bandits in western Hunan.Bandits in western Hunan cannot be broadly defined as aggravated robbery,attacking groups and individuals.Role of bandits in western Hunan is dramatically changed from the initial economic robbers to the organizations which have strong political needs.Secondly,bandits in western Hunan are developed from a group which is characterized by a large number,scattered distribution,small organization and being natives-centered to a contingent of troop which integrates the officials,armed force and bandits.The growth process of bandits in western Hunan has their own characteristics in different stages.
