Study Period Of The Republic Of Chahar Region Bandit Problem

After the Qing Dynasty was overthrown and the Republic of China was founded, because of the weakness of central goverment,wars between warlords, and frequent natural disasters,the society was out of order and full of unrests. Under this circumstance,a large number of poor peasants were obliged to risk their lives and gather to be bandits for a living in most provinces of the whole country,the ChaHaer region was included. The disaster of bandits was one of the most serious social problemsn in ChaHaer in the period of the Republic of China. The disaster of bandits in Chahaer was very serious,which began at the beginning of the Republic of Chnia and was out of control in 1926.The disaster of bandits in ChaHaer continued for a long time and made a widespread infulunce.From 1912 to 1936, Chahaer was full of unrests and the bandits ran rampant to thegreatest extent.We can not count the number of the bandits. The bandits lived by kidnapping and robbing and killed people so madly.Because of the important position,the warlards' army such as GuoMinjun fight against Jinjun,FengJun in ChaHaer.The wars between the warlards made great calamities.The bandits in this period had obvious features of the time, i.e forming large groups of solider-bandit,transforming each other.The brandits came from the neighboring province always ropped ChaHaer.These are the characteristics of ChaHaer bandits. The brandits devastated the social and economic development of ChaHaer and made great calamities to the people's lifves and property made a serious influence on the people's psychology. The brandits prevented the agriculture,the Industry and commerce and animal husbandry from developing quickly and made the country more poverty.There are a wide variety of reasons for the cause of the brandits.Under the national environment they had local characteristics unique to CaHaer region. They can be divided into political and social causes, natural and geographic causes, psychological causes and the and the features of society of the Immigrants and so on. Depending on the historical context and the fact of the problem of the brandit,we think that the warlords'wars,the weak control of the govermen and the society's confused order is the fundamental factor.The continous famine,particular position and the natural environment are included to the natural and geographic causes; the psychological causes includedes the psychology of speculation,the psychology of revenge and the psychology of survival,which made someone to be brandits.Because of bandits'great harm,the local authorities, common people took different measures to prevent them according to their own different understandings. The government mainly suppressed, killed and placated them; common people mainly organized self-defence against them.
