China is one of the world's four most ancient civilizations. It has a long history and a profound cultural heritage, which is the culmination of the wisdom and hard-work of all of China's ethnic groups.Classical literature is not only a crucial part of this culture, but it is also an accurate reflection of its splendour.Through the arrangement and systematic study of classical literature, one can learn to distinguish between the positive and negative aspects of history and actively pass on the positive to future generations. If we take regional history as a point of reference and combine it with the situation at present, then we will ultimately be able to better promote the development of the western regions.Cha?atai documents occupy a pivotal position in the study of ethnic minority classical literature in Xinjiang.Although scholars have,at present, made some noteworthy achievements in the collection, collation and analysis of Cha?atai documents, the content of their research has often been more document-focused.That is to say, research on historical works is still few and far between.Furthermore, research into Cha?atai documents often places a strong emphasis on collation, with only a small number of texts being translated into Uyghur. What's more, research written in Chinese is even less common. For this reason, this paper aims to examine the content of the Cha?atai document “The History of Kashgar”,through the transliteration and translation of the text. The Cha?atai document "The History of Kashgar" is an important historical text for the study of Central Asian history.Within its pages,it not only gives an account of the creation myth, but also of the formation and migration of the Turkic tribes in the early thirteenth century, the invasion of Genghis Khan on the Western Regions and Central Asia, the establishment of the Yarkent Khanate, the relationship between the “Aq-taghliq” and “Qara-taghliq” factions,as well as some information about the people of Kashgar and Yarkent. In short, the text is rich with a wide variety of historical content.Excluding the introduction and conclusion,“An Investigation into the Cha?atai Document ‘The History of Kashgar'” consists of a total of four chapters. The preface not only discusses the significance and purpose of research, but also the current status of research both in and out of China.Chapter One provides an overview of “The History of Kashgar”,including its author, title, historical sources, structure and contents.Chapter Two compares the different versions of “The History of Kashgar” and highlights some of the problems present in the literature.Chapter Three discusses the characteristics of the language in “The History of Kashgar”.Chapter Four, focusing not only on its linguistic and literary value, but also on its linguistic features, literary features and errors in writing and presents the original text,of “The History of Kashgar".The conclusion provides a brief summary of the points mentioned above.Due to the author's limited academic ability, there may be some omissions in the thesis. For this,I ask for the reader's forgiveness.I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to Professor Ablikim Yasin for his tremendous help and guidance during the arduous process of choosing and writing such a topic.
