The intended translation practice is the translation of the book The Gendered Society, the fourth edition, penned by Michael Kimmel,a renowned and authoritative socialist and expertise on gender study who has been exploring and sharing insightful investigations into the social gender relationship. The translation task involves one chapter,ie,Chapter Seven: The Gendered Classroom, which mainly introduces the overstated differences between boys and girls in educational system, all the radical distinguished expectations beyond their physical differences.Backgrounded with high status of academic level, this book mainly consists of informative texts assisted by expressive texts, which establishes itself a quite enormous professional. The process of my translation, thus, has been confronting many a professional terminology and particularly categorized vocabulary, which exceeds my knowledge capacity.Meanwhile, the most touching expressive contexts are always manifested within long and difficult complex sentences, which call for stronger ability to analyze the grammatical structures. Thus, communicative translation is widely used in my translation, which allows me to break the limitations of the original texts and to convey the messages in accordance with the targeted language structure, cultural habits and linguistic applications.Such freedom will absolutely grant the translator an opportunity to explain the author's writing intentions, adjust the cultural differences and eliminate misunderstandings so that the readership will be able to comprehend the idea from a foreign language source. On the other hand, semantic translation is also used to accomplish this practice, with more emphases laid on the loyalty to the original language environment. The combination of these two methods will,on the one hand, permit the translator to re-produce the writing for the sake of the understanding of the targeted readership;on the other hand, will stick to the original intents that the author manages to convey. In all,The translation practice report is composed of five chapters.Chapter one:a brief introduction of the task;Chapter two:working arrangements and translation;Chapter three: theoretical framework;Chapter four: analysis of cases;Chapter five:summary of my translation practice.
