The monk,one of the triad of the Buddha,is the main part of Buddhism.Dharma need to be practiced and spread by monks.During the period the Han,the Wei and Tsin Dynasty,some monks and lay Buddhist from India,central Asia,the western regions take great trouble to spread Buddhism to central mainland with enthusiasm along the land route or the coastal route.These foreign monk is active in the major cities and regions.In this period,Luoyang,Changan and Jianye gradually become the concentrated area and center in the distribution of Buddhism.In the early stages,Chinese translation of buddhist scriptures has not been strongly supported by the government,which is mainly based on private translation by the monks who arrived at Chinese region.The translation activities by the monks who arrived at Chinese region are carried out under the auxiliary of Shramana and lay Buddhist.According to the translation methods and styles of the foreign monks in the Han,the Wei and Tsin Dynasty,there were two group: "plain" and " splendor ".From the perspective of the translation method,conversion is a general situation and the combined translation is the main way in the early stages of the translation.During this period of time,monks disseminate the Dharma rely on not only the mutual aid provided by Hu monk,but also the help of the local religious people.In the early days of Buddhism,the first problem have to face is the collision and friction between the Indian buddhist culture and the Chinese local culture.In order to expand the influence and charisma as well as reduce the resistance of missionary work in China,many foreign monks have to adjust the missionary strategy to cater Chinese traditional culture based on the real need.Some Hu monks with the power of "the supernatural" have attached Buddhism to the Laozi necromancy,attracting the believers by the way of the divinity.Some foreign monks with background knowledge of Confucianism often put the concept of local inherent into the translation of buddhist sutras.The local terms with Confucian and Taoist thought theory of analogy explain the buddhist doctrines melt with Confucianism and Taoism.This paper explore the relationship between Hu monk and the early development of Chinese Buddhism through the study of the dharma activities in China during the period of the Han,the Wei and Tsin Dynasty.
