Globalization has been generating collision and integration between different cultures.It is the mission and responsibility of multicultural education to protect the world's cultural diversity,promote democratic education and maintain social equity and justice.Understanding Multicultural Education is written by American scholars Francisco Rios and Christine Rogers Stanton,both working on application and research of multicultural education.Using the metaphor of a house,the writers give a holistic view of American multicultural education in its history,aims and objectives,challenges and future directions.It leads readers into a professional educational field,and it also has major significance for the present educational system in China.The language in Understanding Multicultural Education is concise,logical and objective.This translation project chooses the last three chapters as the translation material.Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,this report has introduced at great length the translation strategies at the lexical,syntactic and textual level.This report consists of four parts.The first part gives a brief introduction to the translation project,which comprises text analysis,material description and the significance of project.The second part is process description,including task preparation,translation and revision,and summary.The third part involves the translation theory and its guidance to this report.The fourth part sums up sometranslation strategies,such as amplification,paraphrase and lexical conversion from typical examples in this selected text based on the equivalence theory.Through the study and application of this theory,the translation version is accurate and accessible.
