This report is based on the translation of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 of an academic monograph written by Professor Sandra Beatriz Hale,The Discourse of Court Interpreting: Discourse Practices of the Law,the Witness and the Interpreter)(2004).This monograph studies the authentic recordings of court hearing,providing a detailed analysis of the questions and answers by lawyers and witnesses in court and interpreter's interpretation of them from the perspective of pragmatics and discourse analysis,which is of great significance to the practice of court interpreting,training and studying.There has been no Chinese edition of this book so far.The author of this report selects Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 to translate,which focus on the study of Courtroom questioning and the interpreter and the use of discourse markers in courtroom questions.The translation of the selected text is finished with CAT tools,mainly Trados 2014.The translator of this translation report adopted the project management skills applied by the modern language service industry to manage the whole translation process.From the perspective of stylistics,this report sets out to analyze difficulties of translating legal texts and problems of using CAT tools to translate the legal texts.This report is divided into four parts: Part one is the translation project description,including project background,objectives and significance as well as the structure.Part two is the description of the whole translation process,covering pre-translation preparation,in-translation preparation and after-translation preparation.Part three is the detailed analysis of translation difficulties and solutions.Part four is conclusion of this report,including findings,implications and unsolved problems in the translation project.
