Interpreting is a process-oriented activity with instantly presented product.Relative research to date on interpreting has shifted from the focus on the cognitive theory of interpreting as translation to analyses of phenomena in the interpreting process. In such analyses, implicitation is still rarely touched in a detailed manner, contrary to explicitation which is the most popular research target.Since interpreting is a two-way communication between languages, explicitation in one direction usually means implicitation in another.Hence, room for a detailed study of implicitation still remains large. This report endeavored to describe the strategy of implicitation used in consecutive interpreting behavior through analyses of the transcript of this interpreter?s practice at Boao Summit for World Youth Growth.Based on the existing knowledge of implicitation in interpreting, the report drew a rough picture of implicitation patterns deductively through some statistics and cases, such patterns including the detail-related,the rhetoric-related,the linguistics-related and the culture-related ones. This report noticed that the implicitation tactic employed by this interpreter did engender an easy understanding among target-language audience with some merits.Still, demerits in this regard were about something specific and unique in the source language lost in the direction from the source discourse to the target one.
