As a report on Chinese to English simulating consecutive interpreting (C-E SCI) with prepared parallel text, this dissertation describes one CI task in which the author took part in the simulated press conference of Premier Li Keqiang in 2014 and analyzes two versions of interpretation of the Premier’s answers to questions raised by two journalists who are with Reuters and CCTV respectively.Assuming that the task process consists of "pre-interpreting preparation" and "interpreting", the paper divides "pre-interpreting preparation" into three phases according to time order, each with a different focus and function, and presents the transcript of both the original speech and the author’s interpretation, from which typical examples are selected for further analysis from two perspectives:(1) Coping with Chinese paratactic sentences, and (2) Analysis of hesitation, correction and misinterpretation. It has to be mentioned here that the analysis are conducted on the basis of comparison of the official version of on-site interpretation with the author’s simulated one.Through the task description and analysis, it can be found that the corresponding coping strategies as well as psychological states of the interpreter are closely related with adequate and comprehensive pre-interpreting preparation time and approaches. It is also concluded that the factor of "reference text" itself serves as a double-edged sword in SCI. On one hand, the reference text set a good example for the interpreter when dealing with difficult sentence patterns and preparing proper nouns. On the other hand, the text may become a distraction or burden of extracting short-term memory or a cause of underperformance of the interpreter’s part if it be overly dependent on.
