Mechanism Of Directed Forgetting Under The View Of The Resource Allocation Theory

Directed forgetting emphasizes forgotten directivity and intentionally.Therefore,directed forgetting is also known as the directional forgotten or deliberately forgotten.It means: items asked to remember is better grace in recall tests than items asked to forget.Over the years,directed forgetting research formed the two basic experimental paradigm: the list method and item method.With the deepening of the study,the researchers through the experiment validate assumptions and continuously put forward new suspect,has made some achievements.But for the directed forgetting there are still some problems still did not get a satisfactory explanation,need to further explore and solve.First,the code is the first important link of information into the memory system,for a long time,coding is the core research topics.In the memory system,coding and different levels,make the study becomes rich.However,the level of processing in the directed forgetting in the field of research is rarely at home and abroad.And most of them still according to the semantic and non-semantic division level of processing,makes the explanation for the results of the study is rigorous.Second,most studies suggest that domestic word corresponds to the table method to extract contained,and corresponds to the selective repeat words method.And in recent years,with the gradual development of inhibitory mechanism in the process of memory,using the word table method to restrain mechanism of related research is far more than the discussion of the selective repeat.This research will be directed forgetting and processing type,the combination of reference Chen Han(2001)to the operation of the different level of processing method,by manipulating the different level of processing to explore the directed forgetting effect,and further verification to distinguish the processing type and level of the rationality of the processing of two dimension.Then try to explore whether can use the level of processing of directed forgetting effect differences,whether by contrast reveals two generation mechanism exist at the same time,and by using the theory of resource allocation for reasonable interpretation of the differences.Specific research conclusions are as follows:1.The form of semantic processing and processing are two different "quality" of processing type.The influence of two processing type of directed forgetting effect is different.2.The level of processing,directed forgetting effect is different.Embodied in with the improvement of level of processing,directed forgetting effect to strengthen,weakened.3.The directed forgetting is based on two or more different mechanisms.
