Objective:(1)to understand the characteristics and difference of mental health and family function of the deaf children and normal children;(2)to understand the relationship between psychological health and family function of the deaf and the normal;(3)to provide scientific theory and suggestions for mental health education on the deaf children.Methods: 250 deaf-mute students from special education schools and 250 normal children eleventh middle school in Nan chong city were surveyed by Mental Health Diagnosis Test(MHT),Family Assessment Test(FAD)and a self-designed questionnaire.Results:(1)There were differences in the gender,school segment,origin and the only child or not in the different dimensions of family function and mental health of hearing impaired children.Correlation and multiple regression analysis showed that the mental health of children with hearing impairment is positively correlated with family function,and the factors such as total family function,emotional reaction,role and behavior control are the important factors affecting the mental health of children with hearing impaired.(2)There were significant differences in family function and mental health between deaf children and normal children.The evaluation of family function of deaf children in communication,roles,affective involvement,behavior control and emotional reaction which was significantly lower than that of normal children's evaluation.Deaf children's mental health in the lonely,terror,allergic tendency,and the anxiety degree were significantly higher than that of normal children.In the comparison of relationship between family function and mental health,the same is the total function and role of the family has a significant impact on hearing impaired children and ordinary children's psychological health;the difference is emotional reaction and behavior control for hearing impaired children's mental health have an important influence,and affective intervention on the mental health of normal children significantly.Conclusion:(1)The evaluation of family function in children with hearing impairment was significantly lower than that in normal children,mainly in communication,role,emotional intervention and behavior control.The detection rate of mental health problems of deaf children is higher than that of normal children.The overall level of mental health of the former is significantly lower than that of the latter,mainly in the aspects of loneliness,terror and allergy.(2)There are significant differences on family function of deaf children and normal children in demographic variables,such as age,origin,only child or not;(3)There are significant differences on mental health of children with hearing impaired in demographic variables,such as gender,age,origin,whether the only child;there are differences in gender and age of normal children's mental health,mainly in the aspects of human anxiety,horror,impulse and learning anxiety.(4)In all subjects,the mental health level of girls was lower than that of boys,and the difference of terror was especially significant.The mental health level of children aged 16-18 years was higher than that of 12-15 years old,and the difference was especially significant.(5)The family function has a positive predictive effect on mental health of deaf and normal children,and the role of deaf children is greater than normal children.
