The Research On The Evolution Of Female Costume Custom In Sichuan Han Nationality During The Republic Of China

As a combination of material and spiritual civilization,the custom of clothing not only reflects an era and social condition in a region,also it is an external manifestation of people's mental state.Accordingly the study of clothing has great significance.The study of costume custom is the historical and cultural investigation of a specific historical period,it's also a significant reference for modern clothing.As one of the origins of ancient Chinese civilization,Sichuan Province is not only the birthplace of numerous celebrities in history,it is also pregnant with traditional culture,rich and colorful customs,which influences people's way of life.Due to the differences of natural and historical factors,Sichuan clothing has been rich and various since ancient times,among which the behavior and psychology of women's clothing are the basic elements of people's daily life.Its generation,development and transformation is a reflection and inheritance of ancient civilization,and has rich cultural connotation.Since modern times,especially the founding of the Republic of China,Sichuan social politics,economy,culture and everything else have been undergoing tremendous changes along with the exchange between Chinese and Western civilization,especially the spread of new life style in Sichuan society,it has great influence in Sichuan women's apparel custom,no matter clothing samples,color,workmanship or various types of accessories,makeup,they have been all mixed with new features.This paper uses the multidisciplinary research way combining history,sociology,folklore and geography,introduces and analyzes Sichuan women's costume customs in the period of the Republic of China,which selects the year between 1911 and 1949.The research shows that the essential change of the dress custom is the decline of the hierarchy and the equality between men and women in the period of the Republic of China.At the same time,due to the limitation of the times,Sichuan society still has powerful oppositions against women's increasingly fashionable dress from conservative forces.The differences between urban and rural areas,rich and poor are still remarkable,women have their own identity dress,some traditional clothing beliefs and taboos have also changed.In addition,this article also analyzes the differences of the clothing customs between Sichuan and other regions by comparison.It can be seen that Sichuan has its own special customs of women's clothing,also complys with the overall trend of China's clothing custom.At the end of this paper,the author also analyzes the influences of evolution of Sichuan women's dress custom on Sichuan's economy,the life of Sichuan women and the trend of world dress in the period of the Republic of China.Based on the study of Sichuan women's costume custom in the period of theRepublic of China,this article depicts the upheaval of Sichuan society in the wild winds and waves.It also shows the spirits of Sichuan women,composes Sichuan women's amorous feelings in the Republic of China.
