The Study Of The Semantic Motivation Of The Modern Chinese Compound Words That Based On Qualia Structure

The quantity of two syllables compound nouns of modern Chinese account for a large amount in the Chinese vocabulary.It has strong functions and a wide range of pragmatics,also they has always been the focus of Chinese vocabulary research.But,the existing results are mostly from its structure.Its semantic research is slightly weak,especially the problem about semantic motivation.This paper takes the Modern Chinese Dictionary(sixth edition)as the corpus basis,takes the qualia structure as the main theory to support and uses the method of quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis to systematically examine and analyze the semantic motivation of the modern Chinese two syllables compound nouns.This study has a corresponding value,not only to the theoretical exploration of Chinese vocabulary,but also the practice of teaching and use of Chinese,Two syllables compound nouns of modern Chinese composed of two real morphemes and morphemes have structural relations.As a noun,a compound noun is a relatively stable class different from the verb and adjective and covering all the knowledge and concepts of the object.The semantic motivation is the reason and the basis of the formation of the word meaning.The motivation of the word is the reason and the basis of the word calling the thing,both of which are different in nature and have close ties.The qualia structure is the core of the generative lexicon theory and it is a new theory that covers the knowledge of the relevant encyclopedia.Its main content is form role,composition role,telic role and agentive role.This theory embodies the dual value of theory and practice in the aspects of word collocation,syntactic semantic understanding,and polysemy and noun analysis.It is found that the semantic motivation of Chinese compound nouns has a strong explanatory power.The detailed description of the qualia role implied in Chinese compound nouns can show the dynamic of semantic construction.The different roles of compound nouns are different from other things and they are the basis of semantic construction.As the semantic fusion of Chinese compound nouns is strong,the qualia role is often compressed in semantic construction.This requires us to make up the implied content when we interpret the compound semantic rationale.The role of qualia roles in different categories of compound nouns and the proportion is not the same.Artificial compound nouns highlight the telic role and agentive role;natural compound nouns highlight the form role and composition role.Because of the alleged artificial things of the compound nouns more than natural things,so the form role and telic role of a larger proportion than composition role and agentive role.Although the theory of qualia structure has a strong theoretical and practical value in the study of the semantic theory of Chinese compound nouns,there are still limitations in the interpretation of Chinese characters,such as Chinese historical and cultural words,pass the words and taboo words.
