A Report On The Translation Of Geography:A Very Short Introduction

This is a translation report on Geography: A Very Short Introduction which is one of the series books published by oxford university press.The whole collection consists of six chapters and the translator chooses the first one.This part mainly discusses the history of geography and the core concepts of the geography in order to help the readers build a primary image of it.This introduction is a kind of informative text which translation should accurately provide the main content of the thesis and accord with the objective and exact language style.In this translation work,choosing Skopos theory as its theoretical guidance and following its three rules,the translator concludes some translation methods in scientific informative translation such as supplementary information,integration of the meaning group,extension of the word meaning to increasing the readability fidelity of the target text.This report can be divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction which mainly discuss background and significance of the project;the second part centered on the contents and style of the source text;the third part focuses on difficulties and how the translation theory is applied in translation practice;the last part summarizes the practical experience the translator has gained from this project.
