This report describes a dialogue interpreting task that the author undertook for a business meeting, which took place in the form of a business. This report begins with a brief introduction and pre-task preparation of the interpreting task, then the author makes a case study on the interpreting practice.Firstly, the author analyzes the characteristics of dialogue, and then summarizes three types of reduction strategies, namely, compression, summarizing and omission, and analyzes different applicable conditions for each type of reduction strategies.Secondly, based on the practice, the author sums up two motivations for using reduction strategy: one is positively using it as a tactic to perfect performance;the other as a rescue technique to cope with inefficient management during interpreting. The author hopes that this report could give some inspiration for future interpreters who might have interests in using reduction methods in dialogue interpreting.
