The world has entered an era of knowledge-centered information. With the explosive development of network technology, students' learning modes have been undergoing dramatic change.A huge number of online resources have provided students with a great diversity of learning materials. The convenience of easier access to internet has allowed learners to be ready to conduct their learning beyond all the confines over time and space.Mobile-assisted Language Learning(MALL)has become a new mode of language learning, receiving increasingly attention.High school students have also started to conduct English language learning by means of their mobile devices, which has received more and more attention from researchers. However, language learning strategies(LLS),which has long been a focus of linguists, has rarely been studied in MALL,especially in the context of Chinese high schools. This study attempts to explore high school students' current usage of MALL and the strategies they adopt in MALL.Studies both at home and abroad relevant to Mall and language learning strategies are reviewed and theories of MALL and language learning strategies are used as the framework, particularly Oxford's classification of language learning strategies and her Strategy Inventory for Language Learning(SILL).The study employed both quantitative and qualitative methods to fulfil the goal.260 students from Kunming No.8 High School participate in the questionnaire related to MALL strategies.Descriptive analysis of SPSS19.0 is used to analyze the results.Six students voluntarily participate in the interviews to present their views on MALL.The results show that generally high school students use MALL at a relatively medium level, and the overall strategies used by high school students are also at a medium level, among which compensation strategies are used at the highest level and social strategies at the lowest level.Students of different genders as well as different categories have no significant difference in the use of MALL,but students of different learning achievement have significant difference in the usage of MALL strategies. Thus, the study suggests that high school teachers are obliged to state the significance of mobile-assisted learning and offer the necessary guidance in MALL strategiesapplication to promote students language learning.
