The development of the regular script in Ming dynasty experienced one period from the transient early stage of Song Ke small regular script following the ancient to the stage of the conservative Guangeti calligraphy,the middle of which saw the remarkable small regular script in calligraphy history created by those masters from wu men calligraphy school who studied calligraphy of Jin dynasty diligently,such as Zhu Yunming,Wen Zhengming and Wang Chong;and the late of which appeared quietly elegant and vacant small regular script composed by Dong Qichang,insipid and pure one by Zhang Ruitu and concise and lively one by Huang Daozhou,which was affected by the romantic zen ideology.With copy of small regular script works and study of relative theories,we can get the origin of inheritance and innovation related with its writing skills,structures and methodicalness.There is a method of holding writing brushes called "the peace and the rhyme" in writing skills.The “peace” not only refers to learners who hold writing brushes when relaxed,but refers to a deeper comprehension that the learners hold writing brushes at ease.Although there were various understanding of the "peace" in every period of Ming dynasty,"peace and rhyme",with different ways of holding brushes,was the foundation of studying regular script and other calligraphic styles ultimately.In structures,through analyzing the small regular script of Shen Du in Taigeti's period,Wen Zhengming and Wang Chong in Wu school's period,it can be intuitively found that its characters of scanty and brief regular script in Ming dynasty was developed constantly,and that whether kitsches of Taigeti's small regular script in the early stage of the Ming dynasty or quietly elegant and emptiness of Wu school small regular script's in the middle of Ming dynasty,no one was separated from the structural characters of the small regular script.In art of compositions,the "scanty" realized in the early period of Taigeti was also relatively uniform,which meant relatively uniform evacuation with the distance and the space among words and lines.However,the methodicalness of the small regular script,compared variously with the former,realized by representative figures of mid Wu school.Despite many similarities among that of masters like ZhuYunming and Wen Zhengming and that of early Taigeti's,it inclined to empty evacuation of Jin style on the basis of relatively homogeneous evacuation.Besides writing styles,structures and compositions of the small regular script in Ming dynasty,we have to focus on the continuous innovative learning concept like "from tang to jin" and its representative such as Dong Qichang's calligraphy inheriting from that of Zhong Yao's in Wei and jin dynasty,and that of Wang Xizhi's and Wang Xianzhi's.Ming dynasty regular script experienced the stagnant officialese style and glory moment of Huating and Wumen,which provide a lot of valuable experience for us learning calligraphy.
