The consecutive-verb structure is a common grammatical phenomenon in language,and it has vigorous vitality since it produced.It conforms to the principle of the language development that language is terse and succinct.It not only abounds in ancient Chinese language,but also widely used in modern Chinese.The research of consecutive-verb structure on bones and tortoise shells is weak.Some works on the Chinese grammar describes the general appearance of the oracle inscriptions and demonstrates the consecutive-verb structures by examples on the oracle inscriptions.There is very few study of the characteristic on the consecutive-verb structure.In short,they have failed to describe and analyze the consecutive-verb structures systematically and comprehensively.Based on the reason above,this thesis takes the consecutive-verb structure on bones and tortoise shells as research objects,describes their different categories,contents and semantic relation,and summarizes the general situation by applying semantics theory.In order to investigate their characteristics,this thesis analyzes the feature of the consecutive-verb structures from the aspects of groups and series of the oracle inscriptions based on the obtained achievements of sort and history division of the oracle inscriptions.Contents of this paper are divided into four sections.The first ‘introduction' part mainly reviews previous researches,describes the connotation of consecutive-verb structures and the principles of identifying verbs in this paper,tells the research methods and the topic significance of this thesis.Chapter two is the classification of consecutive-verb structures from the aspect of semantics.Chapter three is the analysis of semantic relationship about the verb items,other elements in the consecutive-verb structure.Chapter four analyzes the situation and characteristics from the aspect of sort and history division of the oracle inscriptions.
