Wood-firing,in simple terms,it is a ceramic firing process with firewood.In the 20 th century 80 years ago,efficient gas kiln,electric kiln has not yet universal used,Wood-firing kiln is the only way to burn,throughout the history of ceramics.With the change of times,this approach is given a different meaning.In modern times,the electric kiln,gas kiln widely used,"Modern Wood-firing " process as the inheritance and continuation of traditional Wood-firing,with firewood as fuel,in a specific kiln,with a certain temperature-warming curve,using flame direction,firewood combustion at high temperature oxidation and reduction of chemical reactions to create a certain visual representation of pottery or porcelain to form the core creation means and the purpose of firing.In this paper,through the literature research and field study,we define the wood-firing concept from the perspective of modern pottery,and introduce the modern wood-firing how to continue from the traditional wood-firing from the evolution of the furnace and the firing method of burning and other aspects of the way,and carry out its process overview and analysis through all aspects in modern wood-firing,and analyze the wood-firing process by the beauty of decoration,process aesthetic,craft culture,spirit and other aspects.We do an investigation on the application of modern wood-firing by walking into Jingdezhen,and make a research and analysis about the way the cognitive situation and the craftsmen of the form of conduct by the questionnaire survey and interviews.In this way,we realize the present situation and the dilemma of the development of modern wood-firing,and analysis by combining the environmental opportunity with the advantages of the modern wood-firing process,to get the maximum value of the firing method: rich ceramic art language;excavation of local language materials;market disadvantage to be advantage.The three directions are seeking for the development of modern wood-firing opportunities.This paper analyzes and studies the technological characteristics and application development of the modern wood-firing,and explores the development path of the modern wood-firing with investigation and practice combined.It is helpful to realize the inheritance of traditional craft in many dimensions,the combination of traditional craft and modern aesthetic culture,the realistic significance of enriching the ceramic art language.
