Inheritance And Development

As part of Chinese Culture's essence, China's traditional graphs represent the long history of Chinese history, and embody self-contained Chinese intension and visual tradition. Traditional Chinese graphs still retain their specific characteristics and value in our current context although the latter has changed a lot. Under current cultural situation, Chinese traditional graphs are of great help to help initiative Chinese Design stemmed from Chinese culture to locate its Chinese characteristics.This paper proposes the author's own idea on the inheritance, development and innovation of Chinese traditional graphs in our new era. By examining traditional Chinese graphs, the author puts much effort on analyzing the cultural characteristics behind those graphs, the author always bears in her mind that with of help of the above mentioned analysis and the solid understanding of our traditional culture, a whole new design language embodying Chinese intension can be created. The paper also argues that the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese graphs should be a presentation of certain harmony between human and nature, a humane thinking mode with enough connection with our past culture and history. Now we are in a world of globalization, traditional Chinese graphs will be a bridge between different cultures instead of communication barrier of design modernization.
