Craft Evolution:Studies On The Folk Crafts Renaissance Under The Village Reconstruction Upsurge In China From 2011-2016

The development of folk handicrafts is a hot issue that raises concerns about the reasons behind the development of folk arts and crafts.As a product of farming culture,it can be said that the folk arts and crafts is the daily life itself.If we want to talk about the possibility of its revival,we should restore it to the growth of the soil and the environment.Separating the folk crafts from the original life to talk about it is no sense.The Today,the soil of the folk arts and crafts is the countryside.According to the argument of Peking University professor Qian Liqun,from the beginning of the last century to today,there have been six generations of intellectuals to the countryside engaged in the so-called rural construction movement.Their values and aesthetic taste will impact the local cultural construction deeply.The soil of folk arts and crafts is also undergoing tremendous changes.A large number of people from the city back to home,set off a new rural construction boom,which also has a local culture and self-identity re-understanding and pursuit.Under the influence of these people,the folk arts and crafts will show different possibilities through different ways,such as archival records to the handicrafts,protection and heritage as the original handicrafts,and innovative transformation of handicrafts.These are the main contents and the core point of view in this paper.This paper mainly uses the method of interpretation,text analysis,field investigation,interview,case study,comparative research and other research methods on the folk arts and crafts in horizontal development in China,and vertical comparing with the handicraft movements in history over the world.This paper analyzes the social background and cultural phenomenon of the handicraft movements,discussing the causes and phenomena of the revival of the folk arts and crafts in the context of China's rural construction and the possibility of the revival,summarizing the changes of the identity of the folk craftsmen,and redefining the semantic of "revival".The paper explores the possibility of today's Chinese folk arts and crafts revival through two clues.The first is analyzing the pioneering ideas of the rural construction in the early twentieth century about the study of the folk crafts at that time,and discussing how the folk arts and crafts in the rural construction is gradually put forward and attention,why should the recovery of rural society be the possession of important positions and roles,establishing the necessity of folk arts and crafts in the rural construction.At same time,based on the phenomenon of today's folk arts and crafts as a kind of displayed culture,this paper puts forward three different levels and ways of the practice of folk arts and crafts in rural construction,and then makes further analysis of these practices.The second is to study the phenomenon of folk arts and crafts in the countryside.According to its shape,role,function and other different aspects,under the rural construction,the writer classify the different practices into three categories,respectively,as a file record of folk crafts,protected and inherited as a original handicrafts,and its creative conversion.Three categories,respectively,with a typical case of different type as the main case to study,coupled with a number of other similar cases,analyzing the current development of folk arts and crafts.At the same time,comparing different cases with the global history in the different regions of the arts and crafts movement thinking and practice,especially the nineteenth century "Art and Craft Movement","Craft Movement",Folk Art Movement and so on to explore that if the Chinese folk crafts rejuvenation has the historical similarity.Finally,summarizing the research results of this paper from the two aspects.One is based on the analysis of the development of today's folk arts and crafts,pointing out that the handicrafts has been changed from a kind of life-style of self-sufficiency to multi-drive mode of production conversion.The second is based on the current folk handicrafts of different development direction and results,redefining the semantics of "revival" to explore the possibility of the folk arts and crafts "revival".
