Recently,the significant development of contempt emotion is social function theory.The majority of researchers only focused on the field of marital relations.The field of work context is lack of enough study,especially in Orientalism Background.So under the text office website——Tower,a series of multi-rounds business products decision-making tasks were designed to study contempt.In the experiments,participants believed that they were taking part in a business product decision-making task and their colleague was fake subject who would comment on their performance to manipulate the independent variable(contempt/failure).Experiment 1 studied the effects of contempt towards participant' performance and reactive aggression.Experiment 2 studied the mediating effect of self-esteem to contempt.And experiment 3 examined the rumination as a moderator in these relationships.Main Conclusion:(1)Recipients of contempt had significant better task performance but also they showed more interpersonal aggressiveness compared with recipients of failure in work context.(2)Contempt only indirect influence the performance through self-esteem.(3)Contempt influence the reactive aggression directly and through self-esteem,(4)The rumination has a moderating effect.Considering the moderator of rumination,high-rumination recipients had significant low task performance and stronger reactive aggression.This study show the complicated effect of contempt in a specific scene.It show the effect of contempt to performance and reactive aggression,which is explained by the mediating effect of self-esteem.And the moderator of rumination explain the individual difference of this phenomenon.This study has theoretical value to contempt social function theory,and practical value to business management and individual career development decision making. |
