Abstract/Summary:
Lexicalization from trans-layered structure is a lexicalized process in which two syntactic components on trans-layered structure evolve into a lexical unit. It is a special phenomenon in the process of Chinese lexical formation. The study about lexicalization from trans-layered structure is an emerging grammar study in recent ten years. At present, from either its width or its depth the study is quite limited. Based on this case, the thesis mainly studies the lexicalization from trans-layered structure by selecting some typical examples as subjects, to research trans-layered lexicalized mechanism and evolutionary characteristic. The thesis includes five chapters. The first chapter analyzes premise and grammatical character of lexicalization from trans-layered structure, then lists some common words out of lexicalization from trans-layered structure, setting basis for the whole thesis. From the second to fourth chapter the research focuses on three sorts of function words such as adverb, conjunction and auxiliary word which form out of lexicalization from trans-layered structure. For the adverb"Shi bi"and"Zhong yu"are used as examples, for the conjunction"Fou ze"and"Cong er"as examples and for the auxiliary word"Er yan"and"Ze yi"as examples, to observe their lexicalized process respectively, and conclude lexicalized mechanism of adverb, conjunction and auxiliary word which form out of lexicalization from trans-layered structure. The adverb out of lexicalization from trans-layered structure has been marked with adverbial modifier location, the conjunction out of lexicalization from trans-layered structure is characteristic of connecting function and the auxiliary word out of lexicalization from trans-layered structure is located at the end of sentence, having an attaching grammar function. On the basis of the preceding three chapters the fifth chapter generalizes lexicalized mechanism and evolutionary characteristic. The production mechanism is embodied in such aspects as the mechanism of grammaticalization, the theory of prosodic syntax in Chinese, the theory of cognitive linguistics and the social factors etc. The lexicalized production is characterized by imbalance, gradual change, co-existence and uni-directionality etc.
