A Practice Report On Liaison Interpreting

The report is based on an interpreting practice in Guangdong Province Museum in July,2015.The author was invited to be the interpreter to help the client better understand the display of the Exhibition of History and Culture of Guangdong Province.This report clarifies the author's pre-task preparation and the process of the interpreting task.Besides,the report includes the discussions and analysis of African English from the perspective of pronunciation,grammar,and sentence.With the analysis of interpreting process,the coping tactics the author tries to offer are based on two theoretical foundations.First,the coping tactic is based on the English Variety Theory,in which the author tries to clarify the application of English Variety Theory in interpretation from African English to Chinese with the example of the interpreting experience in the Guangdong Province Museum.Second,the author tries to offer the coping tactics from the perspective of context adaptation.The context adaptation theory is based on the analysis of the English Variety Theory mentioned before,which hopefully helps the interpreter analyze and restructure the information of the conversation in African English.
