An Analysis Of The Causes Of Misinterpretation In The Communication Between Chinese And English And The Corresponding Tactics

Based on the practice of a CI task conducted by the writer of the thesis for the delegation of American Historical Black Colleges to Heilongjiang University in the summer of 2015, this report summarizes and analyzes mistakes made in the practice,aiming to put forward some possible coping tactics.This report consists of three parts. In the first part, the report gives an introduction to the background, the objectives, the features and the theme of the CI task, which is“the History and Development of Chinese Calligraphy”. Also, the task process includes three phases, namely, “pre-interpreting preparation”, “interpreting”, and “assessment”.The second part focuses on the analysis of the interpretation mistakes at three levels:grammatical(lexical and syntactical), cultural and logical. Through the analysis, the causes of the interpretation mistakes are unveiled. The last part gives an overall reflection on the whole interpreting task and the coping tactics, the purpose of which is to provide possible reference for the beginners of interpreting.
